For trains

Trains based on EMS (electromagnetic sustentation) do not use superconductors. Electromagnets are placed in the wagons: the magnetic field created by these electromagnets is then adjusted in order to exactly compensate the weight of the wagons, making them levitate. This technology hence requires energy to make the train levitate.

On another scale, the same principle can be used to make small objects levitate, such as a globe (it can easily be found on the internet), or any other object. The transrapid in Shanghai uses this technology. It links the city centre to the airport and travels 30 km in only 8 minutes.
